Scott Whiskers: The Search for the Golden Cat is a point-and-click game developed and published by Fancy Factory on Steam on 18 December 2025. This is the second game in the Scott Whiskers series, which stars the eponymous character.
The graphic style has definitely improved since the first game in the series. Read on to find out what we liked about this point-and-click game.
A holiday that turned into an adventure!
Mayan rituals, superstitions and an island in economic trouble await us in Scott Whiskers: The Search for the Golden Cat. What was supposed to be a relaxing holiday, thanks to a prize trip won in a lottery, turns into an epic journey.

Scott Whiskers arrives in a small Central American village just after a sacred relic, a golden cat, has disappeared. Our curious protagonist strives to understand what happened, find the relic and help the village recover.
Scott Whiskers: The Search for the Golden Cat is an intricate adventure that will keep us entertained for hours on end. In our case, it took us just under 8 hours to complete it.

My pockets are full of stuff!
Scott Whiskers: The Search for the Golden Cat is a modern take on old-school point-and-click adventures. It mixes modern elements, such as the lack of a list of verbs and the presence of only two possible actions (observe or interact), with old-school elements, such as the lack of a hint system.
However, to help players, some features typical of modern point-and-click games have been included, such as the ability to see hot spots, a map that allows you to quickly move from one point to another and a journal that allows you to keep track of your objectives.

It would have been helpful to have a brief introduction explaining that the second interaction could be activated with the right mouse button. Other than that, however, the gameplay is very intuitive.
On the other hand, the objective system (journal) could be improved because it sometimes provides too much detail, such as revealing what a particular object will be used for. Similarly, it is sometimes possible to interact with characters before it is necessary, such as by asking for objects that we do not yet know how to use.

In some sections, for instance, we can perform a series of actions that allow us to collect an item that seems useless and pointless at the time. This item will be needed near the end of the game.
The dialogue in the game is excellent. In fact, the developer has added a feature that highlights important dialogue containing clues and information. This helps us to follow the story more easily and solve the puzzles.

Now let’s move on to the puzzles, which are the most important part of any graphic adventure game. They are all varied and, in our experience, quite logical, except for a couple that were a bit ‘moon logic’.
The difficulty of the puzzles is well balanced and they are interconnected, often requiring us to retrace our steps and explore extensively. However, the whole experience is enjoyable, in part thanks to the map that allows for quick travel.
We miss the protagonist’s complete absence of clues, but we understand that this was a deliberate choice to create an old-school experience.

There’s always room for improvement!
Scott Whiskers: The Search for the Golden Cat features many different environments, each with detailed backgrounds and elements.
It’s a pity that most of the animations are missing. For example, when we combine an object or change clothes, rather than seeing an animation, we just see the screen turn black.
Even repeated animations, rather than ones created individually for each object, would have made the experience more fluid. The game has an excellent soundtrack and good sound effects, and it is voiced in both English and German.
