Cave Hikers, an interactive cartoon

Cave Hikers is not the classic point-and-click adventure with puzzles and mysteries to solve, but rather approaches the hidden object puzzle adventure genre. It is a unique video game that could be described as an interactive cartoon that allows us to follow the adventures of three friendly protagonists.

At the centre of this unpredictable journey are the quatropus warrior Aki, the achemist Valerian and the mechanic Vuvo. Together with these three characters, each with their own personality, we embark on a journey in search of a mysterious cave.

The first thing you notice about Cave Hikers is its unique art style, with hand-drawn and then animated designs and backgrounds. The developers have managed to create a completely original fantasy world with characters that you can instantly relate to. The real strength of Cave Hikers lies in the developers’ ability to bring to life a colourful and undiscovered world.

As we said, the title could be classified as a hidden object puzzle adventure. In fact, the gameplay is very simple, with objects to find and simple puzzles to solve in order to continue the adventure. This simplicity, combined with the cartoon style, makes the title perfect for family play, perhaps even with young children.

Our verdict

Cave Hikers is a fun and short adventure, perfect for playing with the family. The graphic style and the narration are a perfect combination, and playing the game is like reading a fairy tale.

  • Cozy game
  • Family friendly
  • Unique art style
  • Can be improved for Steam Deck
