From the work of a solo indie game developer, LBRTY games, Cult Vacui is coming to life. Cult Vacui is a horror point-and-click set in Scotland in wich you have to investigate around a misterious cultist ritual. In the last few days the developer has published the first demo of the game on Steam and we took the opportunity to play it.

Cult Vacui, a race against time

Cult Vacui revolves around a core mechanic that requires careful reasoning before taking action. In fact, we have limited time, and our objective is to resolve the situation before time runs out.

Each time we leave the current room to move elsewhere, one minute passes. Additionally, some actions require a fixed amount of time. This time-based mechanic makes the game more engaging and pushes us to plan our actions meticulously.

Despite this mechanic not being unique — for example, we played Three Minutes to Eight, a point-and-click game with a similar mechanic — the gameplay of Cult Vacui is solid and effective and the plot is intriguing.

The Cult Vacui demo is a nice preview that stimulates interest. We’re looking forward to seeing the complete game and its plot developments. In the meantime, if you like point-and-click games, go ahead and play the demo.
