Highrise City: Vacation Season DLC Review

Highrise City Vacation Season review cover

Highrise City: Vacation Season is the new DLC from Fourexo Entertainment and Deck13 for Highrise City. Vacation Season is the second DLC adding content to Highrise City: Metro & Planes. The new DLC is available on Steam and GOG from 5 August.

Highrise City: Vacation Season introduces a new group of citizens – the tourists – and a wide range of new facilities to satisfy their needs. Indeed, tourists will be accommodated in hotels and will have specific needs for goods and services.

To meet these needs, the new DLC introduces several new supply chains, such as the production of souvenirs and new facilities such as the Japanese restaurant and the museum; these facilities will also need goods to perform their functions properly. Furthermore, a new mode of transport has been introduced: the City Tour. With the City Tour, tourists will be able to explore our city and have a look at the most interesting sights.

Highrise City: Vacation Season introduces new mechanics and new resources to the already very complex system that is Highrise City. With this new expansion, you’ll need to satisfy not only your citizens, but also tourists, making administering the city even more challenging.

Managing the city in Highrise City is not easy, especially as the population grows and needs become more complex. The arrival of tourists can often break the delicate balance that has been created, forcing us to think of new strategies to better manage our city.

The implementation of the DLC is impeccable and the cost is in line with the amount of content. However, I would have preferred the presence of an infographic that would make it clearer which buildings are more or less appreciated by tourists during the City Tours. It can be very difficult to create an optimal route in a city that has already been built without taking into account the presence of tourists.

Our verdict

For those looking to increase the already high level of challenge in Highrise City, we highly recommend this DLC.
